Bush Theatre confirms studio shows and increases access perfomances
The Bush Theatre have today confirmed the dates for their studio shows and announced that there will be increased access performances for all the upcoming productions.
Relaxed performances will be introduced with Pink Lemonade on 11 September, with the amount of captioned and audio described performances doubling.
Pink Lemonade, written and performed by Mika Onyx Johnson, is an autobiographical piece of storytelling using poetry and movement to convey messages of sexuality, identity and self-discovery. The show will run from 6 September-1 October. Captioned performances will be 23 & 25 September, with 16 & 18 September the Audio-described performances.
All performances of 10 Nights will be audio described within its run from 7 October-6 November. They will also creatively integrate British Sign Language (BSL) and captioning and be performed in a relaxed environment as one man’s spiritual journey is about to begin, in a piece written by Shahid Iqbal Khan.
Written by Khan and directed by Kash Arshad, Yasser decisdes to take part in itikaf, whereby he sleeps and fasts within the mosque for the last 10 days of Ramadan. In a moving and funny play, Yasser has to confront a side of himself that he is trying to hide, along with navigating worshippers, shared bathrooms and re-occurring thoughts of chunky chips.
Lava will have a live captioned performance on 22 July at 7.30pm and an online captioned/audio described streaming event from 16–21 August.
A touch tour, where the audience can explore the set and costumes and meet the cast, will be offered one hour prior to each audio described performance.
The remaining shows available with live caption, audio description or relaxed environment and sensory adapted are Overflow, Old Bridge, Fair Play and Red Pitch.
