The Broadway production of Come From Away is to be filmed live onstage in May, ahead of a planned September release.

It will be recorded at its New York home, the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, and will employ 222 people including cast, crew and creatives.

Come From Away has a book, music and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein and is set against the backdrop of 9/11. It details what happens when a large number of planes were forced to ground in Gander, Newfoundland; doubling its population with the number of passengers on board.

Having directed the stage show, Christopher Ashley will also direct the recording. His Broadway production of Diana will also land on Netflix later this year.

Casting for this filmed production of Come From Away has yet to be revealed but what exciting news, Besties!
