Brand new musical Black Widows to record concept album

Black Widows

Brand new musical, Black Widows, will record a concept album following a successful crowdfunding venture.

The one-act dark comedy musical has been written during lockdown by Natalia Lewis, Jack Millier and Elin Miles, and aims to not only entertain, but to empower women to fight back against domestic abuse.

“Beyond dead husbands, the women of cell 7A have very little in common. On the bright side, a life sentence leaves a lot of time to talk. Join them, and their new cell mate, as they relive their lives, share their secrets... and confess their crimes.

Five women. Five stories. One cell. It’s time to meet the Black Widows.”

It is hoped that the fully scripted and orchestrated musical will grow into a live theatrical production further down the line, where a role has been retained for a 2020 drama school graduate.

The cast who are currently in rehearsals and will appear on the concept album are: Joely Barbour (Gretel! – A New Musical), Melanie Bright (Jesus Christ Superstar), Lois Morgan Gay (The Pirate Queen), Becca Sharp (Luv Esther), Amelia Treble (Ghost the Musical) and Kody Mortimer.
