Birmingham-based Youth Onstage to raise money for company by putting on Zoom panto

Cinders and Ella

Birmingham-based amateur dramatic company, Youth Onstage (YOS) has announced they will be holding a Zoom panto this year entitled Cinders and Ella on 19 & 20 December.

When the first national lockdown hit in March, the group were only five weeks away from performing the regional premiere of Kipps: The New Half a Sixpence Musical. This has now been postponed until May 2021.

However, during the last eight months, YOS has continued to work hard behind the scenes and in August, committee member Paul Murphy discussed writing a Zoom panto to fit in with the current climate and move online.

YOS has seen many successful members come up through their ranks including Dominic Hartley- Harris (Bat Out Of Hell, Hamilton), Duncan Burt (Friendsical, The Full Monty), James Hudson (Sunny Afternoon, The Choir of Man), Joshua Coley (Holding the Man, Giraffes Can’t Dance), Carl Tracey (Go! Go! Go!), Lisa Sherlock (Priscilla: Queen of the Desert) and Charlotte Young (Country Music Singer/Songwriter), who have all benefitted from the company’s support and guidance.

Along with many Amateur Dramatic companies up and down the country, YOS has been unable to perform for live audiences so this panto is their way of keeping the company afloat so that many more members can benefit for years to come.

Cinders and Ella – The Zoom Panto runs on Saturday 19 December at 7pm and Sunday 20 December 2020 at 2.30pm. To purchase tickets, please click here.
