Wolverhampton Grand announces socially distanced season of events

A Christmas Carol

Having been awarded essential funding from the government’s Cultural Recovery Fund last week, Wolverhampton Grand Theatre have today announced an upcoming season of socially distanced performances at the venue.

Starting on 6 December, Strictly Come Dancing professionals Kevin and Joanne Clifton present an intimate show featuring stories, song and dance. Then in keeping with the music and dance theme, and following a successful audience development programme, the theatre will host its first ever Bollywood screening of hit 2002 film Devdas on 13 December.

Ramping up the anticipation for Christmas, children’s show Dear Santa Live will run at various times from 20-24 December, then a brand new film adaptation of A Christmas Carol will be screened on 22-23 December, with the story told through contemporary ballet and voiced by Hollywood stars including Carey Mulligan and Martin Freeman.

Associate Director Of Creative and Production, Nathan Brine, said: “I am beyond thrilled that we are able to re-open the theatre this December. We are of course extremely sad to not be able to host our traditional festive pantomime this year, I do however truly believe there is something for everyone in this very special socially distanced line up.

“The work our team have put into ensuring The Grand will be fully Covid compliant is incredible and we cannot wait to safely welcome our audiences back into the building and bring life back into our beautiful auditorium.”

Tickets go on sale to Friends Of The Grand on Wednesday 28 October at 10am and to the general public on Friday 30 October at 10am.
