West End venue The Windmill submits application to reopen as a theatre

The Windmill

The Windmill, previously a Soho strip club, has submitted plans to reopen as a 250-seat theatre hosting some of the “biggest names in entertainment”, whilst providing a platform for the next generation of rising stars.

After losing its sexual entertainment licence in 2018, Immerse London Ltd has since purchased the building and spent £7 million restoring it.

If approved, in addition to the main auditorium, there will also be a theatre lounge called Hendersons that will be able to accommodate up to 100 people.

Events will include theatre performances, comedy, acrobats, dancers and singers, dinner theatre, plus live music and a menu curated by chef Tom Sellers.

The submitted application to Westminster City Council also references a proposed committee for the Windmill, including names such as Alan Carr, Andrew Scott, Skepta, Eric Underwood, Paloma Faith and Alexa Chung.

More information will be announced in due course.
