West End transfer of The Ocean at the End of the Lane delayed until late 2021

The National Theatre’s West End transfer of The Ocean at the End of the Lane has been postponed until late 2021, it has been announced today.

Joel Horwood’s stage adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s fantasy novel was due to open at the Duke of York’s Theatre next month but it will now run from 23 October 2021 – 4 February 2022.

The show is directed by Katy Rudd and features a design by Fly Davis, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Ian Dickinson for Autograph and music by Jherek Bischoff. Casting will be announced in due course.

Returning to his childhood home, a man finds himself standing beside the pond of the old Sussex farmhouse where he used to play. He’s transported to his 12th birthday when his friend Lettie claimed it wasn’t a pond, but an ocean… Plunged into a magical world, their survival depends on their ability to reckon with ancient forces that threaten to destroy everything around them.

Existing ticketholders can expect contact from their point of sale shortly regarding their booking and tickets for the new dates will be released for general sale on 2 October.
