West End fundraising concert REPRESENTASIAN announced at Lyric Theatre

A one night only concert celebrating some of the best Asian musical theatre performers in the country, and introducing some new talent to the West End stage, will be held at London’s Lyric Theatre on 28 April.

This concert aims to provide access and opportunity, promote diversity and inclusivity, and to highlight the very best Asian artists. RepresentAsian is fundraising to create a scholarship for young, Asian individuals to train in the arts, and widen the talent pool, partnering up with The Boury Academy.

The star-studded cast includes musical theatre legend Joanna Ampil (The Phantom of the Opera, Your Lie in April), West End stars Desmonda Cathabel (Hadestown, Disney’s Aladdin), Lucca Chadwick-Patel (Mean Girls, Mamma Mia) and Joe Thompson-Oubari (Wicked, Icon), with Sejal Keshwala, Aaron Teoh, Parisa Shahmir and Soophia Foroughi. The evening will be hosted by Eastenders icon and star of Now That’s What I Call A Musical Nina Wadia, and will feature Eunice De Castro, Reuben Khan, and Rayhan Lee, who will be making their West End debut.

Founder and casting director Ben Armstrong said: “Representation matters a great deal to me, as a mixed race Sri Lankan individual, and I want to give back to the Asian community. Providing access and opportunities to young people is how to widen the talent pool, strengthen representation and hopefully inspire others to commit to inclusivity and diversity in the arts. I can’t wait to share this show with a West End audience.”

The creative team also includes musical director, arranger and orchestrator Natalie Pound, designer Ghostlight Productions, and producer Aixa Amarante Productions. Further creative team members are to be confirmed.
