The Watermill Theatre announces details of its socially distanced Autumn season
The Watermill Theatre have today announced details of their upcoming socially distanced Autumn season.
Opening the indoor season will be Bloodshot, a tantalizing film noir inspired thriller starring Simon Slater, written by Douglas Post and directed by Patrick Sandford. The show last appeared at the Watermill in 2011 when it received critical acclaim. The play will run from 22 September-17 October.
Another production returning to the venue after nearly 20 years is Lone Flyer – The Last Flight of Amy Johnson. Playing from 21 October – 21 November, , Ade Morris’ powerful play is about one of the most inspirational women of the twentieth century. It will be directed by Watermill Associate, Lucy Betts.
The 2020 production of The Jungle Book has sadly been forced to postpone its run to late 2021 but instead, audiences can enjoy a brand new production of A Christmas Carol, written by Danielle Pearson and directed by Georgie Staight. The show will feature two actor musicians and will run from 26 November 2020 – 3 January 2021.
Artistic Director, Paul Hart, said: “After a hugely successful, outdoor summer season we’re delighted to announce plans for reopening our indoor space this autumn. I think what we’ve all missed is the opportunity to share stories – something that’s always been pretty magical in The Watermill’s beautiful auditorium. We return to two fantastic pieces of writing from Douglas Post and Ade Morris, as well as commissioning a new version of perennial classic A Christmas Carol from our playwright-in-residence Danielle Pearson. I’m also thrilled that we have Georgie Staight and Lucy Betts making their directorial debuts for us. We genuinely can’t wait to open our doors again and welcome audiences back to the theatre.”
