National Theatre at Home has announced a collection of productions releasing in the new year from stages at the National Theatre and West End, and for the first time ever, a play filmed on Broadway.

Kicking off 2025 is Coriolanus, filmed from its run on the Olivier stage earlier this year, releasing to the platform on 2 January. Audiences can watch as David Oyelowo (Selma, Lawmen: Bass Reeves) makes his highly anticipated return to the London stage in the title role of this thrilling new production of Shakespeare’s timeless political tragedy, directed by Lyndsey Turner.

Also joining the platform in January are Death of England: The Plays, starring Paapa Essiedu (I May Destroy You, Gangs of London), Thomas Coombes (Baby Reindeer), Erin Doherty (The Crown) and Sharon Duncan-Brewster (Dune), available to stream from 9 January. Following acclaimed seasons at the National Theatre, Clint Dyer and Roy Williams’ extraordinary series of three state of the nation plays were filmed live on stage during a strictly limited season @sohoplace in London.

On 14 February, celebrate Valentine’s Day with the streaming release of Tony-nominated Broadway phenomenon Waitress: The Musical, starring Grammy winner Sara Bareilles. Captured live from Broadway in New York City in 2021, the Tony nominated production directed for the screen by Brett Sullivan is the first international capture to release to National Theatre at Home. Based on the beloved film Waitress by Adrienne Shelley, the musical adaptation was written by Jessie Nelson (book), with original music and lyrics by Sara Bareilles. The “irreverent, emotional, and very musical show” (Collider) directed by Diane Paulus was captured in front of a live audience and is presented by FilmNation Entertainment.
