Liam McLaughlin Productions have announced the UK tour of Emma Hemingford’s critically acclaimed Flinch, which originally premiered at London’s Old Red Lion Theatre in 2019.

The production, directed by Gemma Aked-Priestley, will open at Guildford’s Yvonne Arnaud Theatre on 6 November, before visiting Bristol, Bradford, Scarborough, and Leicester, culminating in a limited run at London’s Pleasance Theatre.

Flinch tells the story of determined actor Jess and up-and-coming trader Mark. Their relationship is almost always fine until the differing ways they react to a violent mugging leads them to question everything they thought they knew about each other and themselves.

An intense 80-minute show, Flinch challenges the audience to be both jury and accomplice, presenting an entirely relatable relationship and consequently asking us to question our own private instincts and moralities.

Producer Liam McLaughlin said: “Emma is one of the UK’s finest emerging writers. After her Papatango and Alpine Fellowship shortlisting this year, I’m even more delighted to be working with her and producing this crucial play that’s incredibly relevant – even more so than in 2019”.

Casting is to be announced.

Tickets for Flinch are on sale now via the individual theatre websites.
