London revival of Hairspray receives second postponement

Having been postponed once already to October 2020 due to Covid-19, the producers of Hairspray have announced a further reschedule to the London revival of the award-winning musical.

Hairspray will now play a limited 19-week run at the London Coliseum from 22 April 2021 with existing ticketholders having four weeks priority to transfer their booking over to a new date. From 27 July 2020, tickets will be released for general sale.

Original members of the creative team including Director Jack O’Brien and Choreographer Jerry Mitchell will reunite for the revival, which will star Michael Ball (reprising his role as Edna Turnblad), alongside comedian Paul Merton who will be making his West End musical debut as Wilbur.

Other casting includes: Marisha Wallace (Dreamgirls, Waitress) as Motormouth Maybelle, Rita Simons (Eastenders, Legally Blonde, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie) as Velma Von Tussle and Lizzie Bea (Kinky Boots, Fat Friends) as Tracy Turnblad.
