Announced during Pride Month, Liverpool’s new upcoming summer festival - Little LTF - will play host to two LGBTQ+ themed shows. 

The festival is a new strand of sister event Liverpool Theatre Festival, which will have its inaugural festival this year and will run for seven days from 12–18 July. The Festival will continue as planned despite the delay to the lifting of restrictions announced earlier this week. 

The two LGBTQ+ shows will form part of a 14-strong programme, which will feature new productions that have been selected by a panel of industry experts with themes such as Black arts, cabaret, disability arts, mental health and musical theatre.

The outdoor festival will be held at St Luke’s Bombed Out Church in Liverpool city centre, with its ‘big sister’ (Liverpool Theatre Festival) returning from September. 

Flying the rainbow flag for the LGBTQ+ community will be This Skin of Mine and 12-The Rainbow Monologues Live. 

This Skin of Mine is written and directed by Kai Jolley, with artistic advisor Mzz Kimberley (Kim Tatum) and is an outrageous dark comedy which tackles hard hitting themes head on. We meet Barry and Sarah, estranged siblings who learn they have more in common than originally thought, and we are told to expect high heel shoes, broken nails, and plenty of wine! 

Eden Jodie will play Sarah; a bold, intelligent and brash transgender woman, whose journey transitioning to a woman was about finding love for herself. Janelle Thompson will play Barry; a heartfelt and naïve young woman. The play will be performed on 15 July at 6pm. 

Following this will be 12-The Rainbow Monologues Live, which is a show based on queer voices and stories to paint vivid pictures of what it means to be part of the rainbow family. The cast announced for this are Pam Ashton, Alan Harbottle, Taylor Illingworth, Terence Conchie and Holly Murphy. 

Written by Kiefer Wes Williams, Tim Norman, Simon James, Seb Fontaine, Jay Jonsonn and Jack Bell, 12-The Rainbow Monologues Live will be performed on Sunday 18 July at 5pm.
