Trafalgar Studios reveals plans to merge performance spaces to create Trafalgar Theatre
The Trafalgar Studios in London’s West End has announced plans to merge its two performance spaces together to make a single auditorium, which will then be renamed the Trafalgar Theatre.
The single 626-seater auditorium will be split across two levels and will be reconfigured in order to make it Covid-safe.
The venue is due to open in Spring 2021 following the extensive refurbishment and restoration project, which also includes refreshed front of house areas, reinstating the theatre’s original art deco features.
Joint Chief Executives, Rosemary Squire and Howard Panter, said: “We need to be responsive to the demands of an ever-changing theatre landscape and consider the expectations of a modern London theatre-going audience.
“The refurbishment of the Trafalgar Theatre has created a larger auditorium space and a significantly improved customer experience.”
They added: “The transformative period we are all currently in has presented us all with great challenges that as a company we are working to try to overcome. We intend to continue to adapt, innovate and invest in the future.”
