TOWN AND GOWN THEATRE Cambridge launches first full season

Town and Gown

New theatre on the block, the beautiful Town and Gown Pub & Theatre in Cambridge, has released its first full season of theatre programming.

The 100-seater flexible theatre venue was originally meant to open in April 2020 but due to the pandemic, this was delayed - although they did manage to open with COVID secure measures in place in September 2020.

Highlights from the upcoming season include touring productions such as Quentin Crisp: Naked Hope, the premiere of Jarman by Mark Farrelly, Pip Utton’s Adolf, When You Fall Down: The Buster Keaton Story by James Dangerfield and also professionally produced in-house productions of musical Ordinary Days & Miracle on 34th Street. There will also be a season of new writing by established and up coming writers.

Cabaret and comedy highlights include the brilliant Tracey Collins and her new character comedy Shell Suit Cher, Looking for Me Friend: The Music of Victoria Wood by Paulus and Jesus L’Oreal: Nailed.

The Town and Gown will run socially distanced performances in May and June and government roadmap permitting, they will hopefully be able to welcome larger audiences from the end of June.

Theatre Manager Karl Steele said: “We are working with the best of UK touring fringe theatre companies and creatives to deliver an intimate and diverse representation of small scale theatre. Developing new work with associate artists and showcasing all that the UK fringe theatre circuit has to offer in a relaxed, creative led environment.”
