The 74th annual Tony Awards ceremony moves online this Autumn

Tony Awards

The biggest night in the Broadway calendar, the Tony Awards, will be streamed online this Autumn.

The event was originally due to take place in June at Radio City Music Hall but the organisers announced a while back that the ceremony would be postponed.

President of the Broadway League, Charlotte St Martin, along with President & CEO of the American Theatre Wing, Heather Hitchins, said: “Though unprecedented events cut the Broadway season short, it was a year full of extraordinary work that deserves to be recognized.

“We are thrilled not only to have found a way to properly celebrate our artists’ incredible achievements this season, but also to be able to uplift the entire theater community and show the world what makes our Broadway family so special at this difficult time. The show must go on, no matter what—and it will.”

The Tony Awards Administration Committee will confirm eligibility ruling shortly and the date of the ceremony is expected to be announced soon.
