Marisa Tomei and Oscar Isaac-led Beirut reading to be re-aired by MCC Theater
Off-Broadway’s MCC Theater have announced that their benefit reading of Alan Bowne’s Beirut, starring Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei, Golden Globe winner Oscar Isaac and MCC founding member Patrick Breen, will be re-aired on 28 January at 7.30pm ET.
Tomei reprises her award-winning role from the MCC’s 1987 production, which launched the venue’s one-act festival.
A play relevant in the current climate, Beirut is set in a dingy Lower East Side apartment in the 1980s and follows the story of Torch (played by Oscar Isaac), a young man who is in quarantine after testing positive to a nameless disease. His girlfriend (Marisa Tomei), refuses to leave him isolating alone.
Directed by MCC Co-Artistic Director Will Cantler, the reading will be available to ticket buyers for three days from the aforementioned date. The reading will then join MCC’s growing On Demand portal the following day for subscribers or 24-hour rentals.
Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis from $5 to $100 and are on sale now here.
