Tickets now on sale for new original musical PERSEPHONE at the Oxford Playhouse
Brand new original musical Persephone is set to premiere at the Oxford Playhouse from 11-13 November; a story of hope, strength and the complexity of human nature.
Persephone gives a fresh voice on what it means to be a young woman in contemporary society, and blends folk-rock music and contemporary dance.
In a world where immortality is rife, power is corrupt, and nothing is a secret, there’s one thing everyone craves but no one can keep for long: youth.
Through a fusion of Greek mythology and folktale, this contemporary retelling offers a new perspective on love, loss and recovery. When Persephone, the young goddess of spring, leaves behind her sheltered childhood for the love of a stranger, she discovers a world far removed from the one she knew.
But how do you hold onto your innocence when you live forever?
Persephone is written and directed by Emma Hawkins, who also acts as set designer, and includes original music by Carrie Penn, choreography by Max Penrose, sound by Nick Heymann, lighting by Sam Morley and costumes by Gaia Clark Nevola. Casting and further creatives will be announced at a later date.
