Get Up, Stand Up!

Producers of brand new musical Get, Up Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical have announced that tickets have been released for general sale today.

The electrifying new production, celebrating the story of Jamaica’s global superstar, bursts onto London’s Lyric Theatre stage from June 2021.

Featuring Marley’s platinum-selling catalogue of music, the story (written by Lee Hall) captures the rebellious spirit and life of a universal icon. Directed by Clint Dyer, a euphoric company of performers led by Arinze Kene as Bob Marley, fuse with the finest reggae musicians to bring this triumphant tale of passion, political unrest and progress from Trenchtown to the West End.

Produced by Playful Productions, Stage Play and Cedella Marley, the creative team includes choreographer Shelley Maxwell, set design by Chloe Lamford, lighting by Charles Balfour, sound by Tony Gayle, costume design by Lisa Duncan, musical supervision by Phil Bateman and musical direction by Sean Green.

Cedella Marley said: “Our father’s music has for so long been an inspiration to so many people. We are proud that audiences will be able to sit in his company for a little while and, we hope, feel better about themselves, and the world. The wonderful team bringing this story to the stage will create a special evening in honour of our father.”

Arinzé Kene said: “It is Time. For. Bob. I am honoured and blessed to be taking on this role. Nothing feels more right, more hopeful than to be stepping into his shoes. I plan to immerse myself in his healing vibes and I hope very much we will be able to do justice to the great man.”
