Theatre stars to perform in new West End series at London’s Lost Alhambra

Lost Alhambra

One of London’s most exciting bars is beating the lockdown blues by throwing a series of ‘West End’ nights hosted by drag queens.

The Lost Alhambra in Leicester Square is celebrating classic musicals with its ‘The Show Must Go On’ performances, which launch on 8 October.

Every Thursday, Friday and Saturday, award-winning acts will hit the stage to perform some of the West End’s best-known hits.

Theatre-lovers will also be treated to a Prosecco reception and two-course meal, washed down with a carafe of wine or two cocktails.

The 3.5-hour shows take on a different musical each week, including Chicago, Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Priscilla and the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

A ‘Halloween Villains Night’ is also pencilled in from 29-31 October, featuring big names including Matthew Croke (Aladdin) and Oliver Tompsett (Wicked).

The stunning venue, which opened last year, honours the original Alhambra Theatre bar, which began in 1854 but then closed for 100 years.

The once ‘infamous’ hotspot of London nightlife was known as a place where female actors would ‘flirt, eat oysters, drink champagne and make eligible acquaintances’ after their shows.

Tickets for The Show Must Go On are £65 and can be bought here.
