THE SHOW MUST GO ON: THE MUSICAL THEATRE STORY returns to The Other Palace
Fresh from a successful run at the Edinburgh Festival, The Show Must Go On: The Musical Theatre Story returns to The Other Palace from 31 October - 2 November with a celebration of musical theatre history, taking its audience on a rollercoaster ride from the earliest beginnings of musical theatre through to the hit shows of today.
This part-narrated, part-sung voyage of discovery showcases the songs and stories that have made it a worldwide phenomenon!
Unlike many ‘revue’-style shows, this piece not only revels in the music of the genre, but also interweaves a narrative that brings some of musical theatre’s most interesting characters, anecdotes and events to the audience.
Featured shows include Mary Poppins, Oliver! The Sound of Music, Oklahoma!, Carousel, Singin’ in the Rain, West Side Story, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Chicago, Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera, The Lion King, Rent, Six and Hamilton, with a grand rip-roaring finale celebrating the Jukebox musical, Jersey Boys, Mamma Mia! We Will Rock You... and many more, guaranteed to get the audience up and clapping.
With songs from over thirty of the biggest Broadway and West End shows, this amusing, absorbing and surprising journey offers something for everyone, whatever their musical theatre taste!
