The Old Vic announces new season including THE 47TH starring Bertie Carvel

The Old Vic Theatre have announced they will host the world premiere of Mike Bartlett’s The 47th from 29 March-28 May, set in 2024 following a fictional Presidential race in the US.

Directed by Rupert Goold, the show will star Bertie Carvel, Tamara Tunie and Lydia Wilson as Donald Trump, Kamala Harris and Ivanka Trump respectively. Further casting is to be revealed, with the production co-produced by Sonia Friedman Productions and Annapurna Theatre.

The venue have also announced the London transfer of August Wilson’s Jitney, running from 8 June-9 July, co-produced by Old Vic, Headlong and Leeds Playhouse. The cast will include Geoff Aymer, Leanne Henlon, Wil Johnson, Leemore Marrett Jr and Tony Marshall, directed by Tinuke Craig.

Finally, Jack Thorne’s award-winning version of A Christmas Carol will return from 12 November 2022-7 January 2023. Further programming for 2022 is to be revealed.
