THE MERCHANT OF VENICE 1936 to transfer to the West End in February 2024

It has been announced that The Merchant of Venice 1936 will transfer to the West End for a limited season, playing at the Criterion Theatre from 15 February-23 March 2024.

Directed and adapted by Brigid Larmour, Tracy-Ann Oberman (EastEnders, Doctor Who) will continue in her role of Shylock, being the first female British actor to play the part.

Also reprising their roles in the production are Raymond Coulthard as Antonio and Arragon, Hannah Morrish as Portia, Gavin Fowler as Bassanio, Jessica Dennis as Mary and Nerissa, Grainne Dromgoole as Jessica, Xavier Starr as Gratiano, Alex Zur as Yuval/The Duke/Balthasar/Blackshirt, and Nancy Farino as Stefania/Blackshirt.

The production features set and costume design by Liz Cooke, with lighting by Rory Beaton, video design by Greta Zabulyte, sound by Sarah Weltman, and composition by Erran Baron Cohen.
