It is the musical adaptation we’ve all been waiting for but unfortunately, we will have to wait a little while longer to see the world of Runway come to life onstage. 

Previously scheduled to open at the CIBC Theatre in Chicago on 13 July and running until 15 August 2021, the show will now make its world premiere at the James M. Nederlander Theatre and run from 19 July to 21 August 2022.

Tony winner Beth Leavel (The Prom, Something Rotten!, The Drowsy Chaperone) will play the role of Miranda Priestly and Taylor Iman Jones (Groundhog Day, Head over Heels, Emojiland) will play the role of Andy Sachs. The show will feature music by Elton John and lyrics by Shaina Taub, a book by Paul Rudnick, and musical supervision by Nadia DiGiallonardo. It will be directed by Anna D. Shapiro. 

The smash hit 2006 movie followed Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) as she took a job in the fiery, fashion world of Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep). The film also starred Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci and was based on the best-selling novel by Lauren Weisberger. 

Broadway theatres are currently closed but Dr. Anthony Fauci, the USA’s top infectious diseases doctor, has suggested that Broadway could reopen this autumn. We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
