It has been announced that Steve Coogan will be joined by Olivier Award-winning Giles Terera in the world premiere stage production of Stanley Kubrick’s timeless classic Dr. Strangelove, which begins performances at the Noël Coward Theatre in London’s West End on 8 October.

Due to phenomenal demand, the London season has been extended by five weeks, now finishing on 25 January 2025 before a limited engagement at Dublin’s Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from 5-22 February 2025.

Giles Terera (Hamilton, West End; Passing Strange, Young Vic) will play the role of General Buck Turgidson. Further casting is yet to be announced.

This jet-black comedy masterpiece, about a rogue U.S. General who triggers a nuclear crisis, is brought to the stage by acclaimed BAFTA and Emmy Award winner Armando Iannucci and Olivier Award winner Sean Foley in an explosively funny satire of mutually assured destruction. Sean Foley will also direct.

Giles Terera said: “Part of the excitement of doing this project was getting to work with really great people; and the gentlemen who are putting this particular project together operate at the highest level – in terms of their craft of storytelling, comedy, satire and telling really entertaining stories about really consequential subject matters in an entertaining and humorous way.”

Joining Armando Iannucci and Sean Foley on the creative team are set and costume designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Jessica Hung Han Yun, sound designer and composer Ben & Max Ringham, projection designer Akhila Krishnan, and casting director Amy Ball CDG.
