Strictly stars to perform in socially distanced tour this Autumn before opening in West End
Stars of Strictly Come Dancing and brother/sister duo, Kevin and Joanne Clifton, will embark on what is thought to be the UK’s first socially distanced tour this Autumn before taking the show into the West End.
An Evening with Kevin and Joanne Clifton has been created with safety at the forefront for all involved. It is an intimate and personal show for reduced-size audiences, featuring dance, songs and stories.
Producer of Strictly Theatre Co, Paul Irving, said: "We feel this is a great way to support venues across the country, as well as provide work for freelancers from the theatre industry who have had limited support over the last six months.
"The aim is to boost audience confidence levels so that they feel safe to come to a theatre and watch live shows again. It also gives venues the opportunity to perfect safe social distancing measures.”
The new production will open at the Kings Theatre in Portsmouth on 29 October 2020, followed by Cheltenham, Shrewsbury, Chesterfield, Colchester, Blackpool and Coventry, with more dates to be announced. They will perform at London’s Palace Theatre (usually home to Harry Potter & The Cursed Child) from 1 December.
The Clifton’s were due to tour this Autumn with Burn The Floor but this has been postponed until 2021. Kevin will headline this tour but without Joanne who has prior working commitments.
