Storyhouse Chester reveals plans for ‘largest ever’ summer season

Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre

The Storyhouse in Chester have revealed the latest plans for their Summer season, with over 200 events planned, beginning in May.

There will be a return of a variety of outdoor cinema events happening throughout the season, both in Dean’s Field and on tour. There are also plans for the theatre to open Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre as early as 22 May, which is earlier than usual, for a 13-week season.

From mid-April, Storyhouse hopes to reopen its indoor spaces and start putting on shows and films indoors from mid-May. There are also plans to reopen the Storyhouse library as soon as it is permitted.

Storyhouse’s CEO, Andrew Bentley, said:  "Spring is finally here and looking back we’ve had about as good a year as we could manage. The difference has been the incredible help from our community, including over 5,000 who have joined as members and as regular donors.  We’ve raised over £2.5m in this last year to keep us afloat. This support is still crucial to our survival and we are so thankful. We brought some joy at Christmas and now we are about to embark on our longest summer ever."
