Stars from National Theatre and Broadway productions of HADESTOWN to join West End company
It has been announced that original cast members of the National Theatre production and the Tony® and Grammy® Award-winning Broadway production of Hadestown will reprise their roles for a limited run at the Lyric Theatre from 11 February-9 March 2025.
The West End production will welcome Reeve Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, Broadway) as Orpheus, André De Shields (The Full Monty, Broadway) as Hermes, Amber Gray (Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812, Broadway) as Persephone, Eva Noblezada (Miss Saigon, West End/Broadway) as Eurydice, and Patrick Page (Cyrano de Bergerac, Broadway) as Hades.
Producer Mara Issacs said: “It is nothing short of divine magic to be able to welcome Reeve, Andre, Amber, Eva, and Patrick back to London. This transatlantic collaboration, which began with the National Theatre production in 2018, is baked into Hadestown's DNA. We couldn't be more thrilled to bring them 'home' as Hadestown continues its love affair with the West End.”
Further casting for performances from 11 February 2025 will be announced soon.
Blending American songwriting traditions, from indie folk, to pop, blues, and New Orleans-inspired jazz, Hadestown has music, lyrics, and a book by acclaimed Tony® and Grammy®-winning singer-songwriter and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award-winner Anaïs Mitchell who originated Hadestown as an indie theatre project and acclaimed album, before transforming the show into a genre-defying new musical alongside artistic collaborator and Tony® Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin.
Hadestown takes you on an unforgettable journey to the underworld and back, intertwining two mythic love stories – that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone. A deeply resonant and defiantly hopeful theatrical experience, Hadestown invites you to imagine how the world could be.
Hadestown features choreography by David Neumann, set design by Rachel Hauck, costumes by Michael Krass, lighting by Bradley King, sound by Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz, musical supervision and vocal arrangements by Liam Robinson, arrangements and orchestrations by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose, musical direction by Tarek Merchant, UK casting for the London production by Jacob Sparrow, and US Casting by Duncan Stewart and Benton Whitley.
Tickets for performances between 11 February-9 March 2025 will go on sale to the public on Friday (20 December) at 12pm noon.
