Spotlight on the finalists of ALPHA UNSIGNED

The music industry is an incredibly crowded market and for those looking to break into it, it's increasingly harder to "make it". Meaning sometimes people just need one opportunity, one chance to be seen/heard by the right person and that's what was promised by the recent Alpha Unsigned event at the Indigo at the O2.

This talent show bought together 10 artists to each sing one original song and one cover for the chance to win a £100,000 record deal - the chance of a lifetime. Hosted by X Factor winner Ben Haenow, this whole evening was a wonderful celebration of underrated talent. Showcasing a range of performers from those with fully choreographed dance routines to those with just them and a piano, and each as deserving as the last.

As the evening was billed as a talent show competition, we thought it would be unfair to review it, so allow us to take you through some highlights of the night.

Minerva Daisy (@Minervadaisy):

Going solo when you are up against performers with backing dancers and full bands is never easy, but this singer's voice is what allows her to stand out. Crystal clear and filling the room with a brilliant atmosphere, you know that you're watching someone do what they were absolutely meant to do. And in her original song ‘Something Strange’, creative lyrics shone through in a memorable tune.

Lamont (@Lamt._):

As soon as Lamont entered the stage, it was clear the party was about to start. This performer excels in building an atmosphere within the room with wild, high energy movement and full music that you can feel through the venue. You're sure to be up on your feet at any future Lamont gigs, keep an eye out for this proud artist.

Macie Nyah (@MacieNyah):

Singing with enough energy to charge the venue we were in, Nyah thrives on stage and it's clear for all to see. And it's always a wonderful bonus when they stand for messages of positivity and empowerment. If you need a boost, we suggest checking out her music as it's sure to bring a shot of energy into your day as it did ours.

Mim Grey (@Mimgrey):

Truly the full package, this performer knows exactly who they are, their sound and their style, as fully formed as any famous performer. You can sense professionalism in the way she holds herself and her music up on stage. For brilliant country vibes, make sure to keep and eye out for her in the future as we're sure this isn't the last we've heard of her!

And of course, we can't write about this event without mentioning the always incredible Marisha Wallace, who was headlining the event with a set of songs at the end of the evening. She truly bought the house down with a voice like no other. Singing, among others, ‘Before I Go’ and ‘And I Am Telling You’. She truly belongs not just in the Indigo, but the actual O2 arena just next door.
