SOME LIKE IT HOT holds workshop ahead of Broadway run

The brand-new musical adaptation of Some Like It Hot is holding a developmental work session ahead of its proposed Broadway premiere in the autumn.

Casting for the workshop includes Christian Borle as Joe/Josephine, J. Harrison Ghee as Jerry/Daphne, Adrianna Hicks as Sugar, Kevin Del Aguila as Osgood, Adam Heller as Mulligan, Mark Lotito as Spats, and NaTasha Yvette Williams as Sweet Sue. The workshop takes the place of the previously-cancelled Chicago tryout.

Based on the 1959 MGM movie starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, Some Like It Hot has a book by Matthew Lopez and Amber Ruffin, music by Marc Shaiman, and lyrics by Scott Wittman and Shaiman. Casey Nicholaw is the director and choreographer.

The original story follows two Prohibition-era jazz musicians in Chicago who are forced to go on the run after witnessing a mob hit. They disguise themselves as members of an all-female band and quickly become enamoured with the band’s singer, Sugar. The new production promises a groundbreaking take on the source material.

Something to look forward to, Besties!
