It’s good news for Sister Act fans as Whoopi Goldberg has confirmed that plans are being made for a third instalment of the hit franchise.

In an interview with James Corden last night, Goldberg said: “For a long time, we kept saying no one wanted to see it. And then quite recently, it turns out, that it may not be true. People may want to see it. So, we’re working diligently to try to figure out how to get the gang together and come back.”

Goldberg has said that she is a big fan of the franchise, which she described in the interview as “fun and feel good. And you know, nobody’s mad. It’s just listen – bad singing, great singing, okay singing and then nuns. What’s better than that?”

Rumours about a third Sister Act have been going around for a couple of years when back in 2018, Variety reported that the piece was destined for a Disney Plus release.

Before Sister Act returns to our screens, Goldberg will star alongside Jennifer Saunders in a new production of the show in London, which will feature a re-jigged role of Deloris in order to alter character ages. The piece is due to run at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith next summer.
