Arlington, Virginia’s Signature Theatre has announced a season-long tribute to Stephen Sondheim: So Many Possibilities: A Season of Sondheim.

The season, which highlights the organisations long-time relationship with the composer, will add three new Sondheim productions in addition to other events.

Into the Woods, currently running until 29 January 2023, is the first of the three productions, followed by Pacific Overtures (7 March-9 April) and Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (16 May-9 July). Events also taking place will be ‘Merrily We Sing Along’, audience sing-alongs with food and drink; ‘Into the Words’, where Director of Artistic Development Anika Chapin, Signature artists, and notable Sondheim experts analyse and reflect on the words and meanings of Sondheim songs; and ‘Sharing Sondheim’, an effort to speak or sing the lyrics of every Sondheim song before the closing of Sweeney Todd; along with “in-depth conversations, book signings, an event for the composer’s birthday, and more.”
