Short film by Alan Bennett to feature in Nottingham Playhouse’s Spring season
As part of Nottingham Playhouse’s upcoming season, Spring Loaded, a new short film has been written by Alan Bennett, which will feature alongside several other new works in Still Life: Untold Stories from Nottingham Now.
The films were shot on location around the city, with each writer being paired with a member of Nottingham’s communities to produce a piece of work based on their conversations. Alongside Bennett, other writers include Olu Alakija, Nathan Ellis, Amy Guyler and Emteaz Hussain; directed by Nottingham Playhouse artistic director Adam Penford and Actors Touring Company artistic director Matthew Xia.
Also part of the season are a screen adaptation of Sophie Ellerby’s play Lit; streamed rehearsed readings of Michael Morpurgo’s Private Peaceful and Nathaniel Price’s new play First Touch; a live streamed performance of Boar by Lewis Doherty (which will also be performed live on 27 May); James Graham’s Bubble and new audio play by Samson Hawkins, Oh for F*ck’s Sake (I’m In Love With You).
Existing online shows, including the theatre’s pantomime, and other pieces from the Unlocked Festival, will be available on demand again as part of the season, plus a new production of dance-theatre piece, Bring on the Bollywood.
