SHEILA’S ISLAND to play limited run at Birmingham’s Old Joint Stock
The Old Joint Stock Theatre have announced that Tim Firth’s sharp-witted comedy Sheila's Island will play in-house at the venue for a limited run from 11-14 October.
This hilarious and relatable comedy is brought to life by an all female cast and sees four middle aged women face the challenges of life, all whilst trying to find their way out of the wilderness as creatively as they can. Billed as ‘The Office meets Lord of the Flies meets Miranda’, this is one comedy you don’t want to miss this October.
The cast includes Dru Stephenson as Denise, Kaz Luckins as Julie, Sarah Ratheram as Fay, and Susan Graham as Sheila.
Bonfire night and Sheila, Denise, Julie, and Fay are Team C in Pennine Mineral Water Ltd.’s annual outward bound team-building weekend. Somehow, Marketing Manager Sheila has been nominated team leader and has unwittingly stranded her team on an island in the Lake District.
Our intrepid heroines find themselves manufacturing weapons from cable ties and spatulas, and create a rescue flag with plastic plates and a toasting fork.
Questions are asked; truths are told; dirty washing is aired. Is it possible to build an adequate night shelter with a prom dress and a sleeveless jumper? What is Julie’s husband really up to in Aldi? And most importantly, can Sheila keep tempers from fraying, nails from breaking and get her band of top level executives safely back to shore?
Written by award winning writer Tim Firth, this relatable play is sure to have audiences in stiches!
Sheila’s Island is helmed by director Daniele Sanderson, producer James Edge, and production manager Dean Hubbard, with artwork by Abstract Peach.
