Shedinburgh Fringe Festival to return for a second year
Featuring a programme full of theatre, comedy, and music; The Shedinburgh Fringe Festival will return this summer for its second year.
Broadcasting live from sheds at Edinburgh’s Traverse Theatre and Soho Theatre in London last year’s virtual online event was set up in response to the absence of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
Producers Francesca Moody (Fleabag) and Harriet Bolwell, along with writer and director Gary McNair who established the festival, did so to raise money for those whose futures were uncertain, with a dedicated fund entitled Shed Load of Future.
New co-producer Vault Creative Arts will join Francesca Moody Productions and Popcorn Group when the festival returns this August.
This year, there will be a main programme, which will include “shed-based versions of seminal fringe favourites from the last decade, new work from artists and comedians who launched their careers at the Edinburgh Fringe, a series of one-off short pieces for Shedinburgh and curated with Vault, a newcomers programme.
The festival will also include SHEDx a series of 10-minute talks from industry figures and theatre talent, themed around the Edinburgh Fringe.
Performances will be live streamed from the Traverse and Soho Theatre, with tickets being available on a pay-what-you-can-basis.
The festival will run from 3 to 30 August and the full programme is due to be announced in July, so we will bring you an update when we can Besties!
