Shakespeare’s Globe announces full cast of KING LEAR

Shakespeare’s Globe have announced the cast and company for King Lear, running at the venue from 10 June-24 July, including Kathryn Hunter in the titular role.

Twenty-five years after their original, ground-breaking production of King Lear, members of the original company will reunite bringing the production to a new generation, including internationally lauded director Helena Kaut-Howson, Marcello Magni, Pawel Dobrzycki, and ‘one of the greatest stage actors alive’ (Vanity Fair) Kathryn Hunter.

The cast includes Gabriel Akuwudike (Either, Hampstead Theatre) as Burgundy, Ryan Donaldson (Captain Corelli's Mandolin, Harold Pinter/UK Tour) as Edmund, Emma Ernest (As You Like It, Shakespeare’s Globe) as France, Kathryn Hunter (Richard III, Shakespeare’s Globe) as King Lear, Mark Jax (A Christmas Carol, Young Vic) as Cornwall, Max Keeble (Faithful Ruslan: The Story of a Guard Dog, Belgrade Theatre Coventry/Citizens Theatre Glasgow) as Oswald, Marcello Magni (Pericles, Shakespeare’s Globe) as Kent, Diego Matamoros (Queen Goneril, Soulpepper Theatre) as Gloucester, Kwaku Mills (Queer Upstairs, Royal Court Theatre) as Edgar, Ann Ogbomo (Shakespeare at the Abbey, Shakespeare’s Globe) as Goneril, Marianne Oldham (hang, Crucible Theatre) as Regan, Glyn Pritchard (The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru) as Albany, and Michelle Terry (Artistic Director for Shakespeare’s Globe) as Cordelia and Fool.
