Shakespeare’s Globe announces full cast of HENRY VIII featuring Adam Gillen

Shakespeare’s Globe have announced the cast and company for Henry VIII, running at the venue from 19 May-21 October, directed by Amy Hodge.

Adam Gillen will play King Henry VIII, returning to the Globe stage following his acclaimed performance of Mercutio in Romeo & Juliet in 2021, alongside Bea Segura as Queen Katharine, Janet Etuk as Anne Bullen, Jamie Ballard as Cardinal Wolsey, Esmonde Cole as Surrey and Cromwell, Natasha Cottriall as Princess Mary, Debbie Korley as Woman 1, Patience and Elizabeth I, Kevin McMonagle as Chamberlain, Baker Mukasa as Norfolk and Sands, Jonah Russell as Buckingham and Cardinal Campeius, and Anna Savva as Woman 2 and Hope.

One of Shakespeare’s final plays, and co-written by John Fletcher, this rarely performed play will be seen in a new light at the Globe this summer. Hannah Khalil, the Globe’s 2022 Resident Writer has become Shakespeare and Fletcher’s third collaborator, providing a female perspective to this exploration of love, lineage, and power 

Henry VIII is designed by Georgia Lowe, with movement direction by Aline David and music by Tom Deering and Maimuna Memon.
