Sam McArdle has announced the world premiere of his one-man dark comedy show, The Manny, at London’s King’s Head Theatre from 10–14 January 2023.

McArdle writes, produces and stars in this comedy about an Irish male nanny who works for rich single mums in West London, with direction from Melanie Fullbrook and sound by Charlie Smith.

The production follows themes of loneliness and struggles finding a sense of purpose and belonging, inspired by McArdle’s personal experiences as a male nanny.

We meet main character, Manny, apparently enjoying a Peter Pan-esque lifestyle of well-paid cash and settling for meaningless dating, but really disguising himself from the fact that he's letting life go by without following a real purpose, or allowing himself to really feel anything substantial.

He then meets Molly, an actress disillusioned with life, and becomes an unlikely role model for Michael, a 7-year-old spoilt, seemingly irredeemable product of a loveless marriage.

Throughout the duration of the show, these three characters take a life changing journey faced with a potential future of unrequited dreams.
