Ruthie Henshall brings new musical Worlds Apart to the London stage

Ruthie Henshall’s production company, Three Pin Productions, held a workshop this week to develop new musical, Worlds Apart, complete with a West End cast.

With a book by Matt Cavendish and music and lyrics by Paul Schofield, Worlds Apart is set between two schools in 1997 South London, separated by a fence in a new coming of age story.

We are introduced to Dylan, an educational misfit with the gift of the gab and Kevin, an academic fantasist with social anxiety. Both are 17 years old and living on the cusp of a new millennium, at a time where youth culture defined the rules. Driven by a anarchic brit pop influenced original score, the two boys push the boundaries of classroom order, both determined to beat the system.

The workshop cast includes: Jordan Luke Gage (& Juliet), Jake Halsey-Jones (Hamilton), Matthew Cavendish (The Play That Goes Wrong), Tim Mahendran (& Juliet), Hiba Elchikhe (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Rosie Fletcher (Hadestown), Jessica Lee (The Prince of Egypt), Rodney Vubya (Evita) and Jeremy Lloyd (The Comedy About A Bank Robbery). It also features recent graduates Sophie Hutchinson, Stacey Cornes and Beth Dare.

Henshall said: “We are absolutely thrilled to bring together such a talented new generation of West End stars for the first exploration of this exciting new musical. Worlds Apart is a quintessentially British new musical with all the energy and youthful optimism that is still desperately needed 20 years on”

There is yet to be any news of future productions of Worlds Apart, but keep your eyes peeled on social media for any further teasers.
