The Entertainment is a story of escapism, Anna’s escapism.

She has the perfect girlfriend, job and family, only they’re in her head. If you can dream it, why do you need to achieve it? Only when Justine crashes in to her life, does she actually have to make a decision.

More effectively listened to through headphones, we share Anna’s experience. The descriptive dialogue is spot on and paints the picture of Anna’s life with ease.

Written in a Fleabag style, Anna’s thoughts are relatable, even if that is not something you would want to admit out loud and the cringeworthy characters are funny, but highly imaginable.

Hilariously funny with it’s use of dark humour, The Entertainment is definitely a successful form of escapism for the listener, it makes you feel like your problems aren’t quite so bad!

Anna’s job at ‘Kapow! Kids Parties and Events’ provides many ridiculously funny situations and the politically correct children’s party themes are a genius addition.

In a world where the stationary cupboard is the only place to offer sublime isolation, are we ever ready to take our headphones off?

Written and performed seamlessly by Katie Bonna and directed by Amelia Sears, this audio production is without doubt one of the highlights of the festival.

It could be listened to over and over again and we would still laugh out loud!
