Review: KATHY AND STELLA SOLVE A MURDER!, Summerhall - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Best friends Kathy and Stella have their very own true-crime podcast, but when their favourite author is killed, they are thrust in to a whodunnit all of their own.

Can they possibly crack the case themselves? Will the killer strike again? And will this finally propel them to be the global podcast stars they deserve to be?

Kathy and Stella Solve A Murder is genius writing by Jon Brittain and Matthew Floyd Jones. It has a score that would rival any West End show and the jokes just keep on coming.

With Bronte Barbe as Kathy and Rebecca Hinds as Stella, and a supporting cast of Jodie Jacobs, TJ Lloyd and Imelda Warren-Green as everyone else (literally!), we can’t think of more suitable casting. The vocals are staggeringly perfect and the relationship between Barbe and Hinds as Kathy and Stella is seamless.

Lighting by Peter Small, design by Cecilia Carey and direction by Jon Brittain complete this perfect production.

We took away three things from this performance:1- We wish Kathy and Stella really had a podcast, 2 – This show really needs a UK tour and 3 – An aching face from laughing so much!

This has to be one of the top highlights from this year’s Fringe and you should not miss it. Book your tickets now!

Brilliant! Brilliant! Brilliant!

***** Five stars
