Fringe review: KATHY AND STELLA SOLVE A MURDER, Edinburgh Festival Fringe

BFFs Kathy and Stella are Hull's least successful true crime podcasters. When their favourite author is killed, they are thrust into a thrilling whodunnit of their own! Can they crack the case (and become global podcast superstars) before the killer strikes again...?

With a book and lyrics by Jon Brittain, and music and lyrics by Matthew Floyd Jones, Kathy and Stella Solve a Murder was a hit at last year’s Fringe. We totally adored it Besties, and guess what? This year it is even better!

With West End stars Bronte Barbe as Kathy and Rebekah Hinds as Stella (they're real life Besties too!), back in the title roles, these vocal powerhouses can do no wrong. Hinds’ comic timing and dry humour is hilarious and Barbe's straight man, Velma-esque depiction is the perfect portrayal.

Imelda Warren-Green as Erica, the podcast groupie, and TJ Lloyd as Justin, the friendly mortician, are just adorable. Additionally, Jodie Jacobs as Felicia is astute as the super bitch author.

Whether you are a fan of musicals, comedies or true crime podcasts, this production is impossible not to love. It's the gift that keeps on giving!

Murderously brilliant and truly criminal to miss!

***** Five stars
