Fringe review: I’M HAVING DISTRESSING THOUGHTS, Sadia Gordon - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

What happens when you love your life and want to be dead? Join Sadia Gordon with her Fringe debut dark comedy. I'm Having Distressing Thoughts follows one woman's journey of seeking mental-health help and the chaos and characters that come along with it. Expect inspirational quotes, breathing exercises and adult colouring-in books: kill me now.

Written and performed by Sadia Gordon, this is an absolutely genius text. The characters that Gordon takes on are just delightful, none more so than Pam the pamphlet, and her jazz hands.

The performance is also expertly done, with various accents attempted (there is a brilliant nod to her Scottish accent being a bit crap, but we love the ownership of that!)

Using comedy as a coping mechanism to block out the bad thoughts is widely renowned but this is something else, in a good way, in fact a great way!

If you have ever experienced mental health issues, you will know how hard it is to try and find what works best for you, and most of the time it's not adult colouring-in (although we do actually like that).

This is a wonderful way to take an outside look at a really hard subject and forget our own problems for a short while.

Expertly written and genuinely laugh out loud funny!

***** Five stars
