Review: I WISH MY LIFE WERE LIKE A MUSICAL, Gilded Balloon - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Written and composed by Alexander S. Bermange, I Wish My Life Were Like A Musical is a compilation of thoughts and behaviours from a performer’s most inner feelings.

Performed by a small cast of West End regulars, it is a hilarious and ironic portrayal of life in theatre. From drama school to auditions to understudies to the back stabbing show diva, it has so many ideals that will ring true with anyone that has ever performed or regularly watches theatre performance.

Bermange’s talented and clever writing has uncountable nods to musical theatre classics and for hard core fans, there are a few less subtle musical mentions (not enough to warrant copyright issues though so pay attention!)

It’s all the things no performer would usually be found to admit outside of the theatre, but everyone inside the circle knows!

The honest and flawless performances from Luke Harley, Hannah Taylor, Harry Winchester and Alice Ellen Wright make it the performance to put on your fringe list this year.

With songs that are not only worthy of a West End musical but also incredibly funny, you will be guaranteed to leave with face ache from so much laughing.

Incredible, relatable and so, so funny!
