Fringe review: GROWN UP ORPHAN ANNIE, Katherine Bourne Taylor - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

The world's favourite orphan is back and just like you, she is, unfortunately, a grown-up. Get a peek into Annie's very cool celebrity lifestyle, and join her as she eulogises her dad, searches for a new best friend and saves the world from being run by billionaires. Optimism! Grief! Songs! Animal sidekicks!

Written, created and performed by Katherine Bourne Taylor, with music by Gabriella Hirsch, Grown Up Orphan Annie is an amusing look at what happened to Annie after she was adopted. It includes nice little references to spin-off merchandise, including the musical (copyright allowing) and sponsorship deals.

Bourne Taylor is kitted out in the signature red dress and looks every part a grown up version of the curly red head. Her energy encompasses that of the original character and her search for a new sidekick is adorable.

There is some (very unscary) audience participation to help Annie in her quest and a very friendly atmosphere throughout the performance.

A fun, heart warming and nostalgic production and a great one to watch with friends.

Leaves you fully dressed with a smile!

**** Four stars
