Fringe review: FRIZZ!, Carey Seward - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Frizz! is an autobiographical, solo rock concert covering topics such as growing up in the entertainment industry, fighting diet culture, sexual harassment, mental illness and addiction, ending with finding authentication and self-love.

Hailing from Alaska, Carey Seward tells her story with a warmth and humour, creating a rapport with the audience, creating a safe space.

Interspersed with her stories are musical numbers where she both plays guitar and sings. The tunes are catchy numbers and the lyrics are funny and descriptive, expanding on the already heard stories.

It's an interesting journey to hear and the musical numbers add a nice break between topics. It would be good to see more of an interaction with the audience though, to make it more of a conversation rather than a lesson.

A rocking good story.

*** Three stars
