Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World bursts onto the stage at The Other Palace with vibrant energy and an empowering message. This dynamic musical brings to life the remarkable stories of historical women who have made significant impacts, from Civil Rights activist Rosa Parks to trailblazing pilot Amelia Earhart. The narrative follows Jade, a curious young heroine, who sneaks into the not-yet-open Gallery of Greatness at a local museum. There, she encounters a host of influential women, including Frida Kahlo, Marie Curie, and Emmeline Pankhurst, each vividly portrayed through a lively and heart-thumping soundtrack.

The show’s minimal yet effective set design, cleverly maximises the venue’s limited stage space with packing boxes evoking a museum's makeshift feel, keeps the atmosphere intimate and engaging, and adding to the show’s playful, makeshift charm. The vibrant costumes and bright set pieces by Joanna Scotcher reflect the show’s upbeat spirit, enhancing the educational and entertaining experience.

The entire cast deliver performances with sincerity and skill. While there are moments when a bit more vocal power could enhance certain scenes, the actors’ seamless transitions between multiple roles and their natural chemistry brings the musical’s diverse characters to life. Notable performances include a moving ballad by Anelisa Lamola as Rosa Parks, contrasts beautifully with Elena Breschi's joyous rendition of ‘World of Colour’ as Frida Kahlo earlier in the show.

The musical’s catchy, pop-infused score by Miranda Cooper and Jennifer Decilveo, along with clever choreography by Dannielle ‘Rhimes’ Lecointe, makes learning about these historical women an exhilarating experience. The involvement of the band, especially Nicola T. Chang. adds real energy and joy when joining the cast onstage, enhancing the show’s overall fun and upbeat atmosphere. Also having the band onstage for the entire show really showcases their talent and how much they all contribute to a production.

Echoing the success and feel of Six, with Kenny Wax as the producer for both, this production offers a fun and educational way to inspire children and adults alike. The lively, engaging presentation ensures that the legacy of these extraordinary women resonates long after the final curtain call.
