The Theatre Royal Windsor has once again delivered a pantomime fit for royalty, with its dazzling production of Dick Whittington.

This traditional tale is filled with fun, wit and plenty of audience participation is a must-see for families and panto enthusiasts alike.

Dick Whittington, a young boy from a humble background, dreams of a better life in London. With a loyal cat by his side, he sets off on a grand adventure filled with magic, mischief, and mayhem. Along the way, he encounters a host of colourful characters, including the evil Queen Rat, the wise Fairy Bowbells, and the hilarious Dame Sarah the Cook. With the help of his feline friend and a little bit of luck, Dick rises to fame and fortune, becoming the Lord Mayor of London.

At the heart of the show is a stellar cast including Windsor’s favourite Dame, Steven Blakeley, who brings his trademark energy and humour to the role of Sarah the Cook. His comedic timing and physical comedy are simply brilliant, leaving the audience in stitches. Kevin Cruise as Jack is charming, charismatic and camp, effortlessly winning over the hearts of the audience.

The villainous Queen Rat, played by the legendary Lyn Paul, is deliciously evil and her powerful voice echoes through the theatre. Hilary O'Neil's portrayal of Fairy Bowbells is also an absolute delight. Her presence and enchanting performance cast a magical spell over the entire production. And who could forget the ever-loveable Basil Brush as Alderman Fitzwarren? His quick wit and cheeky humour provides endless laughs with the occasional “Boom Boom” thrown in for good measure.

The production itself is visually stunning, with lavish costumes, dazzling sets and spectacular special effects. The music and choreography are equally impressive with an excellent ensemble.

Dick Whittington is a perfect blend of traditional pantomime and modern humour with plenty of local (and relevant!) references.

It’s a show that appeals to all ages, with plenty of jokes for both children and adults.

So, if you’re looking for a fun-filled, festive treat, head to the Theatre Royal Windsor and experience the magic of Dick Whittington.
