Fringe review: BUFFY REVAMPED, Brendan Murphy - Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, a cult 90's TV show, 144 episodes, a whole 7 seasons in just 70 minutes. Join Spike as he takes us through the highs and lows of Sunnydale High and it's high-kicking, vampire killing student.

Whether you are a serious fan of the series or not, this is an hilarious look back at what was essential viewing back in the day. Remember all of the weird storylines that appeared part way through the series or the characters that just disappeared, never to be mentioned again?

Well Brendan Murphy is here to explain it all, in the guise of Spike, obviously.

There are props galore. The set is a menagerie of all things Slayer and Demon, perfectly setting the tone for the evening. Murphy's delivery is speedy (there's a lot to get through as some needs more explanation than others), and with the help of various bits of costume he takes on the various characters as we go. Hilarious interaction with the audience throughout, Murphy clearly enjoys what he is doing.

It's an animated performance, uproariously funny from the beginning and highly recommended by us, Besties!

Fangtastically good!

***** Five stars
