Remembering singer and actress IRENE CARA

We hoped she’d live forever but it has been announced today that singer and actress Irene Cara has sadly died at the age of 63 - her cause of death “currently unknown”.

Best known for single the titular track in the 1980 film Fame, along with co-writing and singing ‘Flashdance... What a Feeling’; the latter of which she won an Oscar (Best Original Song) and a Grammy (Best Female Pop Vocal Performance) for in 1984.

Cara performed in a number of musicals, on and off-Broadway, before getting her big break playing Coco Hernandez in the Fame movie, for which she was nominated for the Best Actress award at the Golden Globes in 1981.

Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this difficult time.
